Following Assembly Style or Classroom Presentations Shawn Offers:

  • Personalized Break-Out Groups (Small Groups for Students)

Most students aren’t comfortable sharing personal information regarding drug/alcohol use, mental health or addiction with friends, teachers or parents for fear of embarrassment, inadequacy, ridicule or recrimination. Subsequently, many suffer in silence. Shawn is an experienced group facilitator, who conducts small groups in a “safe space” where students can feel comfortable enough to ask questions, share how drug/alcohol use or mental health is having a direct or indirect impact on their lives and work towards a solution.

  • In-Service for Educators (Informational Session for Faculty)

As teachers work tirelessly each day preparing students for future success, alcohol and drugs can undermine a student’s academic achievements as well as other life goals. Substance use inhibits, interferes with and prevents the ability to process what is being taught. Knowing the warning signs and how to effectively deal with these cases is crucial to your students health and success. By sharing his personal experiences, knowledge and education, Shawn gives teachers the insight needed to help students who may be in or entering crisis mode.

  • Parent Night (Informational Session for Parents)

In the midst of an opioid epidemic that is causing the number of drug related overdose deaths to skyrocket, prevention and education is key. Too many students are losing their lives in the experimental phase, while others go on to develop habitual use, which can quickly turn to addiction. Shawn’s personal stories, knowledge of working in the Behavior Health/Substance Use Disorder fields and past experiences as an educator helps parents understand the perils of addiction, while providing effective strategies and resources to help kids and young adults who are struggling.
